Today I officially became a member of The Sons of American Legion(SALS) with my Dad. I never heard of the SALS until I was nominated to the American Legion Boy’s State program.

After hearing about about the SAL organization and how SAL’s mission: to strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion they place an emphasis on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for our nation’s children, caring for veterans and their families, and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.

I knew this was place I love to volunteer my time. I qualified for membership because my Grandpa, George Samaniego served in Vietnam in the Army and my Granddad, Juan Orona, served in Vietnam in the Navy. I also learned my Great Grandpa, George Samaniego, was a Marine in Guadalcanal during WW2.
